"Your level of motivation is key to your success. How motivated you are will determine how consistent you are in taking the actions required to achieve your goals.
And consistency is what actually creates success.
There are various factors that can lessen your level of motivation.
First and foremost is STRESS! How much do you let stress get to you?
Stress can decrease the ability to think creatively. It also robs us of our ability to feel passionate about our goals.
Research has shown that when we’re passionate about something, we experience more joy and feel more fulfilled.
Also, the blood flow in our brains increases and we’re more focused, which makes it easier to stay consistent and be productive.
On a scale of 1 – 10, what is the level of stress you usually feel?
If the score is more than a ‘3’ it is not likely you feel motivated to stay consistent in taking action to achieve your goals.
Motivation is also affected by negativity.
Would most people describe you as a negative or positive person?
Do you hang around negative or positive people?
I am asking because a negative mindset can be more contagious than a virus.
For example, one study on athletes compared four different types of self-talk (instructional, motivational, positive, and negative) and found that positive self-talk was the greatest predictor of success.
People didn’t need to remind themselves how to do something as much as they needed to tell themselves that they are doing something great and that others notice it as well.
Yet, most people don’t notice the thoughts they have all day long. They hang out with negative people, watch negative news, read negative posts on social media. This is what they do consistently.
And then they say they can’t stay consistent doing activities that lead to their success! Is it any wonder?
A 3rd reason that people can’t stay motivated is that they think they must do everything perfectly.
I say…Aim for progress, not perfection!”
It gives me the freedom to play, explore and discover whatever is happening in my world at any given time.
By allowing yourself the opportunity to make progress, you and your mind can map out the course you plan to take to get there as quickly as possible with the greatest of enthusiasm."
